Buena Vista is a ski area near Bemidji, Minnesota. Skiing started there in 1936, making it one of the oldest ski areas in the country. But it was strictly an earn-your-turns destination until 1949, when a rope tow went in. The first chair lift didn’t arrive until 25 years later.
The longest run is 2,000 feet, and the vertical drop is 230 feet. It has both a front and a back side. It has snow tubing, cross-country trails, and sleigh rides. You shouldn’t find any drunken skiers at Buena Vista, as it alcohol is not allowed on the property.
